The Coldest Night of the Year is a winterrific family-friendly fundraising walk in support of local charities. Let’s change the tune for people experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness... because it’s cold out there. Join us on February 22, 2025 - team up, fundraise, and walk with us!
CAMPBELL RIVER AND NORTH ISLAND TRANSITION SOCIETY (CRNITS) is a registered, non-profit organization with a mission to provide safe shelter and services for vulnerable women and their children fleeing violence on northern Vancouver Island. For over thirty years the Society has worked to improve on and implement new services directly related to the issue of violence against women.
Funds raised from Coldest Night of the Year 2025 will directly benefit the Women's Drop-in Center. The center has recently moved into a beautiful spacious location in Eagle Harbour that allows for an expansion of services. Clients that access this service are mostly unsheltered or housed in precarious situations. The center provides supports such as drop-in crisis counselling, clothing, bedding, hygiene items, seasonal weather items, snacks to take with them, showers, chits for the bus, laundry etc. Additionally, clients can enjoy light meals, hot coffee and conversation in a safe, non-judgmental environment.
Our other services include:
Ann Elmore Transitions House
Rose Harbour and Eagle Harbour (63 units of total Change Programs/Second Stage Housing)
Eagle (an additional 19 units of long-term affordable housing for senior women 55+)
Outreach services and counselling
Supportive counselling
