The Coldest Night of the Year is a winterrific family-friendly fundraising walk in support of local charities. Let’s change the tune for people experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness... because it’s cold out there. Join us on February 22, 2025 - team up, fundraise, and walk with us!
The Community Resource Centre of North and Centre Wellington (CRC) is so excited to host its first-ever, annual Coldest Night of the Year fundraising walk in Minto on Saturday, February 22, 2025!
We hope you will join us for a family-friendly, nationwide fundraising walk supporting local charity partners who provide essential care and service for people experiencing homelessness, hurt, hunger, and other related vulnerabilities.
When you join Coldest Night of the Year, you will be supporting CRC’s Community Outreach and Support Services Programs. The aim of our Community Outreach and Support Services Program is to work with low-income families and individuals in the townships of Centre Wellington, Wellington North, Minto and Mapleton to decrease barriers that hinder their ability to handle life’s challenges. We strive to improve their sense of connectedness and belonging by advocating for our clients, making effective referrals and by filling gaps in community services with programs of our own.
Our Community Outreach Workers help find resources for appropriate and affordable housing and, if necessary, emergency housing. The CRC is recognized as a Door Agency in our community, meaning we provide additional programming to assist people at risk of homelessness to remain housed.
Guelph/Wellington has seen a 33% increase in chronic homelessness in the first quarter of 2024. By participating in CNOY, you are fundraising to help prevent rural families and individuals from being displaced and to remain in the County, close to the support system they are used to. When there is no other option, they will be guided and supported in their transition to a shelter in more urban areas and will be provided transportation and emergency food during this process.
Complete this route once for a 2.5Km walk or twice for a 5Km walk.
